Update Letter - May

3,000 Mile Journey. It is hard to believe the number of miles that we have traveled since the beginning of April! We have traveled from Lake City, Florida, to Lancaster, California and are now beginning our journey back to Pennsylvania. So many things have happened along the way and this one update cannot contain all of the things we were able to see, or all of stories of the wonderful people that we were able to meet.  As an extra praise, a couple of churches have taken our ministry on for support!

New ministry secretary. The purpose of coming to California was to be able to attend our daughter’s graduation. We have, in a sense, hired her to become our ministry secretary and she will be an invaluable asset to our team.  Elizabeth is excited to be back on the road and is looking forward to being a blessing to our ministry and encouraging the pastors and churches that we will be attending.

Church plant lead in Baton Rouge, LA. In Louisiana, we shared our ministry with the Central Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Pastor Bob Buchanan of the Central Baptist Church has a great burden to start a new church and has invited us back in the spring of 2017 to help him start a new church! Throughout this year, we will be helping him and this church get the tools that they will need to accomplish this task. Please put this new church plant on your prayer list; we will let you know the name as soon as possible.  Please, if you are interested in helping in any way with this new church plant, let me know.  We would love your help.

Church plant helped in Yuma, AZ. In Arizona, back at the end of April we were able to help at a new church plant in Yuma. This new church, Liberty Baptist Church, and Pastor Joe Elwell have just celebrated their one year anniversary and officially chartered the church the last week in April.  Brother Tom McConkey and his family, friends of ours from York, PA, have moved out to Yuma to help specifically with that church plant.  They were a special blessing to us, feeding us and going out door to door soul winning while we were there.

Parks Ministry in Lancaster, CA. While we were at Lancaster Baptist Church, I was able to participate in a couple of the ministries of their church. The ministry I enjoyed the most was called Parks. I was able to go with my daughter, Maggie, and a group of college students to one of the local city parks. They would visit in a neighborhood and invite the children to come play games in the nearby park and then share the gospel with them. I was able to witness to some adults that came to the park with their children and invited one lady, Tay, to church and she came! I was also able to lead a precious older teen to Christ. There was a total of 4 saved that day in that park. Praise the Lord!

Mile maintenance. When you put these kinds of miles on a vehicle, there will be problems. This time it was with one of our breaks. Praise the Lord, we just had them done and they were still under warrantee (well, for the most part anyway). Then our front wheel bearing started making noises and was becoming very loose. The Lord provided again! One of the mechanics at Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, CA, offered to fix this problem for us. We purchased the parts and they were so kind to put them on for us at no cost. There was still a cost for the parts but the Lord had already handled that, too.

Conclusion. Please continue to pray for us as we travel back to Pennsylvania and share our ministry around the country. We have many churches to stop at on our way back. Our plea is still for the much needed support and for church planting. We are willing to help start churches in any state of our United States.

God bless,
Bro. Holtsclaw
